Goal. Beat the dealer by getting closer to 21 without
going over. A natural blackjack is an Ace plus a 10-value card on your
first two cards.
Values. Number cards count their face value, face
cards count 10, and Aces count 11 or 1 — whichever helps your hand.
Your turn. Hit to take a card, Stand to hold, Double
to double your bet for exactly one more card, or Split a matching pair
into two hands. On your first two cards you may also Surrender to
forfeit the hand and get half your bet back.
Dealer. The dealer reveals the hole card and draws
until reaching at least 17.
Payouts. Wins pay 1:1, a natural blackjack pays 3:2,
and a tie is a push (your bet is returned). If the dealer shows an Ace
you may buy insurance, which pays 2:1 if the dealer has blackjack. If
you hold a blackjack against a dealer Ace, you may instead take even
money for a guaranteed 1:1 payout.
